Weekly Digest June 21-27
Wow, this Friday releases are next level! A new album from Tyler, The Creator, long-awaited LPs by Amenra and Darkthrone, a new project by Brant Bjork and Nick Olivery – STÖNER, Thy Catafalque return in a year with a new powerful release, the veterans Pestilence and young Cerebral Rot with devastating death metal, as well as noisy Drug Church, a unique sound by Australians Hiatus Kaiyote and top tier hip hop by Evidence in our Weekly Digest.
Amenra - De Doorn
The first full-length album in the career of Belgian post-metallers, which is not a Mass (Mass I, II, etc.)! And that’s not the only change – an Oathbreaker vocalist Caro Tanghe joined Amenra on this album, the lyrics on "De Doorn" are written exclusively in Flemish, in addition to singing, more spoken word appeared… Parishioners of Church of Ra should be excited for this one.

Cerebral Rot - Excretion Of Mortality
Revolting, meaty, tuned down to the extreme death metal LP by Seattle-based Cerebral Rot, released on 20 Buck Spin label. The cover takes away the title of "The most ridiculous, but wonderful death metal album covers" from Undeath. A bold release for all OSDM fans.

Thy Catafalque – Vadak
Thy Catafalque is an avant-garde metal orchestra masterminded by Hungarian Tamás Kátai. I liked his last year's album, and he did not waste time going straight for recording the next one. The album was recorded, as usual, with the invited musicians from all over the world (Budapest, Hungary | Edinburgh, Scotland | Újvidék / Novi Sad, Serbia | Kolozsvár / Cluj-Napoca, Romania | Kharkiv, Ukraine | Tuapse, Russia | Alicante, Spain | Quarten , Switzerland | Haifa, Israel | Austin, Texas, USA | São Paulo, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina), and the mastering was done by Tamás Kátai himself. Saxophone, trombone, trumpet, Armenian duduk, cello, tabla and a lot of other interesting things await on this album. Highly recommend.

Darkthrone - Eternal Hails...
Darkthrone is the outstanding band, because they were able to release cult albums as a black metal band, as a crust punk / heavy metal band and now continue following the course they set by the album "Old Star" – towards epic heavy / doom metal. The 9-minute single "Hate Cloak" gave a great understanding of how the album will sound and "Eternal Hails…", full of slow repetitive riffs and branded raw sound, cools the heat no worse than a glass of chilled light beer.
Fenriz described the songs on this album as "five heavy dinosaurs looking in wonder and bewilderment at the stars" and did not lie.

Drug Church – TAWNY
A noisy punk band Drug Church has released an EP "TAWNY" in order to bridge the gap between their album "Cheer" (2018) and the upcoming full-length. The EP consists of the 2020 single "Bliss Out", cover of Arcwelder’s "Remember To Forget" and two new original compositions.

Evidence - Unlearning Vol. 1
Thanks to the founder of the Internet radio F The Radio, who showed me some great hip-hop artists outside of the so-called "golden era", so I became acquainted with the rapper Evidence and forever fell in love with his style as a producer and as an MC. On "Unlearning Vol. 1" Evidence’s own production combines with the works by The Alchemist, Nottz, Sebb Bash, Animoss, Mr. Green, V Don, Khrysis, Daringer and EARDRUM (QThree), and the album features Boldy James on the mic, as well as Conway The Machine, Fly Anakin, Navy Blue, and Murkage Dave. Mr.Slow Flow kills it once again "I’m the tailor and nobody is not suitable, I’m here to tell you everybody that they’re beautiful".

Hiatus Kaiyote – Mood Valiant
The band Hiatus Kaiyote from Melbourne is described by music journalists as jazz funk, neo soul and even R&B band, but they confidently answer "no, none of the above". Their intricate arrangements, impeccable rhythmic feel and amazing melodies fascinate. If you need a proof – samples from their songs were used in the tracks of Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, and Drake among others. And so, Hiatus Kaiyote return with their first album in 6 years "Mood Valiant". This is the unique sound that is definitely worth your attention.

Pestilence – Exitivm
Danish legends of progressive / technical death metal Pestilence are back with a completely renewed line-up, centered around a single constant – the vocalist / guitarist Patrizio Mameli. "Exitivm" marks the debut of three of the band's four members: the bassist Joost van der Graaf (ex-Dew Scented, ex-Sinister, Cypher), guitarist Rutger van Noordenburg (Bleeding Gods) and the drummer Michiel van der Plicht (Aran Angmar, ex-God Dethroned, ex-Dew Scented). Despite such a renewed lineup, Pestilence remained true to their identity and punish as hard as ever.

STÖNER - Stoners Rule
Brant Bjork's desert vibe and Nick Oliver's punk attitude create an explosive mixture that makes the mouth dry and eyes red. These musicians had been creating desert rock as a part of Kyuss, played together in many projects, and know how to do stoner music like no one else.

Tyler, The Creator - Call Me If You Get Lost
From hip hop with an undeniable punk attitude like Odd Future to one of the best pop albums of 2019 "IGOR", tons of cool music videos, recognition as a fashion icon, sold out for the concert in Madison Square Garden and headlining the biggest festivals in Europe and America – Tyler, The Creator is one of the most talented and original artists, who made hip hop punk at first and then made his punk the perfect pop music. "Call Me If You Get Lost" is not "IGOR", here Tyler, The Creator returns with hip hop, rapping his fun, as always, and clever lyrics to a remarkably interesting multi-layered lo-fi instrumental. "Girl, you look malnourished" – is one of the best pick up lines and punches like "Got too much self-respect, I wash my hands ‘fore I piss" crack me up every time.
